Carbon Nanotechnology Engineer

We are seeking a

CarbonNanotechnology Engineer 

for Carbon Nanotube synthesis and process development.  Depending on your qualifications and aspirations, the emphasis of your work can be weighted towards engineering and fundamental nanomaterial synthesis development, or on industrial process development and customer implementation.

Canatu has developed a unique nanocarbon material, Carbon NanoBud (CNB), and a manufacturing process based on Floating Catalyst Chemical Vapor Deposition. The core of Canatu’s automated CNB production system is the CNB synthesis reactor.

As Carbon Nanotechnology Engineer you will be a key player in Canatu’s international R&D team developing the CNB material and its application to new areas.  You will work with other experienced PhDs and engineers on further developing the characteristics and performance of the material. You should have a solid background on relevant industrial processes, which will help you to develop a deep understanding of Canatu’s core technology.

The position is located in Vantaa, Finland.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Development of CNB synthesis and thin film deposition process and equipment
  • Innovating, ramping up and verifying new reactor designs and CNB process variants in Finland or at customer / licensee locations
  • Troubleshooting and other technical support in Finland and at customer sites

Experience and skills:

Required:

  • Excellent command of nanomaterial characterization and analysis methods, e.g. electron microscopies, electrical and optical characterization, and elemental analysis
  • 3+ years of industrial experience on thin film deposition (e.g. ALD, CVD, MBE, MOCVD, PVD, sputtering) or semiconductor equipment
  • Experience in gas flow systems and hazardous chemicals
  • Good English written and verbal communication, preferably also Finnish
  • Ability to learn fast and work independently at customer interface with minimal guidance
  • Solid problem-solving skills, customer-oriented mindset and “can do” attitude
  • Good time management and interpersonal skills
  • PhD or MsC degree in Science or Engineering

Additionally preferred:

  • Project management experience
  • Hands-on experience on mechanics and automation
  • Experience on equipment installations at customer sites, particularly Asia
