Canatu is seeking an experienced

Project Manager, Production Technology

to lead demanding carbon nanomaterial production technology transfer projects and production equipment projects.  The position is located in Vantaa, Finland, with travel to Japan. This is a key role in scaling up of Canatu’s technology to high volumes.

Canatu has developed a unique nanocarbon material, Carbon NanoBud (CNB), and a manufacturing process based on Floating Catalyst Chemical Vapor Deposition.  Canatu’s automated CNB production tool consists of CNB synthesis reactors, a roll-to-roll substrate and liner handling line, a robotic system, coating and film treatment systems, and test and measurement instruments.  


  • Lead a CNB production technology transfer project to an external site in Japan, including transfer of process and equipment know-how
  • Depending on your qualifications, you may also lead production equipment projects and contribute to Canatu’s CNB reactor product management


  • Must have:
    • At least 5 years successful project management experience in international electronics production business
    • Experience working with customers, partners and suppliers
  • Nice to have:
    • Production equipment development/sourcing experience in thin film, semiconductor, nanotechnology, display, electronics, process or comparable industry segment.  
    • Tack record from leading production equipment projects
    • Experience in production equipment product management and professional documentation
    • Working experience with thin film coating processes.
    • Working experience with roll-to-roll processes and printing in clean room environment.
    • Experience from working in Asia
  • BSc or MSc or some other similar degree or higher, e.g. in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Mechanical or Electrical or Automation Engineering.

  • Adaptable to multicultural environment (particularly Japan)
  • Good English written and verbal communication, preferably also Finnish, Japanese is considered a bonus.
  • Knows ISO9001 and other quality systems, and systematic product development for manufacturing equipment
