Canatu headlight heaters are wire-free in front of the light beam and in-lamp integrated sensors and keep headlights clear in any weather.

Headlight heaters

LED headlights can struggle in severe weather, with snow and ice obstructing visibility. Canatu film heaters provide a potential solution, keeping headlights clear in all weather conditions.

Headlight heaters that mitigate visibility and safety risks in any weather

LED headlights, when compared to traditional halogens, often face challenges in preserving clear visibility during severe weather conditions. Accumulation of snow and ice on the headlights can obstruct the light beam, resulting in compromised visibility.

To address this issue, Canatu film heaters offer a potential solution, ensuring that headlights remain clear regardless of the weather conditions. Our headlight heater technology is currently under development and cannot be retrofitted for existing LED headlights.

Key benefits:

  • Transparent and wire-free in front of the light beam and integrated sensors
  • High heating performance: fast, uniform, and energy-efficient heating
  • Design freedom: can be high-pressure- or thermoformed into virtually any desired 3D shape
  • Robust: can be injection molded within the polycarbonate lens, ensuring resistance to harsh weather conditions.

High optical performance

Canatu headlight heaters are transparent and wire-free, offering superior optical clarity without haze or distortion. This ensures that a vehicle’s headlights maintain their intended beam shape for optimal road illumination.

High heating performance

Temperature gradients, a common issue arising from wire heaters, result in wires heating up faster than the surrounding surface, leading to optical distortion. In contrast, Canatu headlight heaters are metal free and film-based, ensuring uniform heating across the entire surface while minimizing temperature gradients, as the entire surface is conductive.

Robust

Canatu headlight heaters can be seamlessly film insert molded within the plastic stack during the headlamp lens injection molding process. This integrated design enhances reliability and ensures durability against harsh weather conditions.

Enabling ADAS system reliability in any weather

As autonomous driving and active safety systems become more prevalent, it’s essential to maintain the consistent performance of ADAS sensors under all weather conditions. Canatu film heaters offer a potential solution in headlights with embedded camera and LiDAR sensors. The Canatu film heater prevents the critical sensor surfaces from fogging or freezing, ensuring reliable LiDAR and camera sensor performance.
