Future automotive interior technologies:
Canatu 3D touch switches for in-vehicle applications
Automotive Interiors Virtual ‘Live’ on 1-2 December 2020 provided an excellent platform for discussions on the latest developments in smart surfaces, materials, and HMIs. Mari Makkonen of Canatu opened the Future Interior Technologies session with a presentation on 3D touch switches for in-vehicle applications. She argued that autonomous driving calls for a complete rethink regarding HMIs. Seats and door trims will become more important as they are always closest to the driver, suggesting that with Canatu’s 3D touch technology, any surface can be smart and functional.
