FlexTech: Canatu CNT film based flexible hybrid electronics enable automotive innovations

The FlexTech 2020 Seminar revolved around how flexible and hybrid electronics foster automotive innovations. The event attracted more than 70 attendees from the material, automotive, semiconductor and related companies that were keen on discovering the latest developments in the field. VP of Sales, Samuli Kohonen, presented Canatu carbon nanotube (CNT) material at the event, focusing on CNT’s unique material properties, automotive applications, means of integration and key benefits. Watch recorded presentation below to learn more about Canatu CNT film products.

Canatu carbon nanotubes (CNT) feature high mechanical, optical, electrothermal and chemical properties. Canatu CNT can be deposited on nearly any surface, such as plastic, leather, textile or glass, to turn non-conductive surface into a conductive platform.

Canatu CNT film features very low bending radius, which means it can be 3D formed with sharp edges and draws. High transparency contributes to low haze and reflection necessary in display applications. Due to high transparency, LED matrix can be integrated underneath the translucent material enabling customizable designs.

Canatu CNT film heaters keep ADAS camera and LiDAR sensors clear from moisture, frost and snow, advancing autonomous driving in any weather. Accurate object detection rises in relevance in ADAS level 2+ and above. Reliable heating systems are necessitated to keep safety-critical sensors clear in any weather. Wire-free Canatu CNT film heaters provide even heating without optical distortion.

Canatu uses unique direct dry deposition on any substrate even at room temperature. Canatu CNT films, sensors and heaters can be thermo-, vacuum-, or pressure-formed by means of standard industrial processes. There are multiple means to integrate Canatu CNT film -products into a vehicle. Canatu CNT film can be injection-molded with multiple resins, laminated within different materials or LOCA bonded to glass surfaces.
